Why the furniture industry still believes in trade shows, and why we do too
While many industries have turned their backs on trade shows, the furniture industry continues to believe in them. We’ll explain why—and what you’ll find at our booth.

While many industries have stepped back from trade shows, replacing them with in-house events and digital formats, the furniture industry has held on to a healthy calendar of real-world gatherings. SICAM in Pordenone is one of the leading examples in Europe. So why has our sector kept faith in the physical event when so many others have moved on?
Some products can only be understood in person
Part of the answer may be tradition. The furniture industry is rooted in craftsmanship and long-standing relationships. But there is a better explanation. The character of our products can only be understood in person. You have to see the finish, touch the surface, and feel the atmosphere a material creates in a space. A decorative foil, a wood veneer, a ribbed slat panel: these things speak to the senses, and there is no way to transmit that on a computer screen.
There is something else the furniture supply chain has managed to protect, something other industries are losing: human connection and real encounters. A community large in scale yet small enough that everyone seems to know each other. We believe value is created in these human interactions, and that is why, year after year, we prepare and invest for events like SICAM.
For us, SICAM is a home game
For Pieffe Union, SICAM is a home game. Our headquarters sit just a few kilometres from the fairgrounds, and the entire supply chain gathers here. It is part industry meeting, part reunion of friends and colleagues. As a trade show dedicated to furniture components, semi-finished products and accessories, SICAM also draws a truly in-market audience, professionals who come to do business, rather than the crowds that fill the larger finished-furniture showcases.
A space dedicated to your products, not ours
This year, we have taken our exhibition space a step further. Rather than simply showing our own products, we have dedicated the space to YOUR products. We want to offer inspiration, showcase what is new and open up possibilities. We have prepared an educational wall of door profiles and accessories, so you can explore what is really possible, beyond what everyone else is selling.
Our payoff is “value to your product”, and that value comes from more than fifty years of experience as a trade manufacturer, serving large and small clients alike with bespoke, fully customised solutions. It is our team that puts in the effort to help you get the most out of your product: high quality yet cost-efficient, appealing yet competitive. Whether you work with interior doors, kitchen frontals or contract interiors, we have dedicated space to each, so you can discover, test and find fresh ideas while our team answers your questions and guides you through the stand.
